Diversity in Rug Weaving

There are different techniques in rug weaving. These are curved weft rugs, woven rugs, rugs formed by the compression of additional wefts between normal wefts, rugs formed by double clamping, rugs made with the return of the wefts from the same warp, winding pre-paid rugs and curved weft rugs. These techniques are generally divided into 8 groups.

Rug is seen as an advanced weaving branch much earlier than carpet. Rugs have become an indispensable building material in tents urbanization thanks to the lightness and ease of folding. The lint-free weave, which is a lint-free weaving made on the basis of two yarn systems, is the hairless and knotless weave. In other words, it is possible to describe rugs as weft-faced weaves which are woven according to the double yarn system which is completely hidden by weft yarns.

The holes left on the rug during weaving are defined as buttonhole. The structure of the rug is weakened by the amount of buttonhole in the rug. Quality production is carried out with no buttonhole. World production and export of rugs usually is seen was made by Iran, China, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Nepal and Tibet. There are of course reasons for these countries to have a world hand-woven rug market. This is the reason; Having the majority of distribution channels, warehouses and retail network in importing countries, not selling products other than their own products in these distribution channels, the fact that the labor costs which make up the most cost items in these products are very low in these countries, the impact of the role of the collector and coordinator for the rug sector and the strong image of these countries in the western markets for their products for many years. In many places where rug weaving developed, especially in winter, it was made by women in the villages, it was a traditional occupation of the past, but today it is more handicraft activity. Rug is widely used with its variety of usage areas, its easy and quick touching, its cheapness, its color and its ease of transport.
