Hand-woven carpets and rugs are always a good culture transfer tool as expressed. Therefore, carpets and rugs have an important place in traditional handicrafts.

Especially in recent years, it has become a branch which is considered to be more important in terms of aging techniques. As it is known, the rugs and carpet weaving developed by the nomadic societies in the past have been used in the decoration of home, workplace and social space with time.

Today, the art of rug weaving is still in use in some places to meet the needs of people. The starting point of this art was to keep up with the natural life, and nowadays, the development of weaving has been provided to find life in the cultural environment.

The art of rug and carpet has developed in parallel with the culture of traditional arts and society in every period. Especially hand woven carpets and rugs are a piece of artwork for human beings due to their cultural heritage and fine workmanship.

Since the past, machines have become active in rugs and carpets as well as in certain points of life. This mechanization has reduced the production of hand-woven carpets and rugs partially. Now, as it used to be, it has become machine intensive rather than labor intensive. At this point, the use of vegetable wool dyes has decreased and chemical dyes have begun to replace. This has led to a decline in the trade of woven rugs and carpets. After that, the rugs and carpets were revived with antiquing methods. The aging of the carpet, which comes to light with the transition to the mass production of rugs and carpets, has decreased in some respects.

As a result, the artistic aspect of carpets and rugism in the field of hand-woven fabrics has decreased due to the change in the methods in the applications. The commercialization of the sector has been instrumental in mass production. Rug and carpet became an industrial product in the twentieth century. For example, a rug and carpet may be better matured by the solar method, while in the chemical dyeing method, carpets and rugs can be mass produced.
